University Park office complex in Leawood, Kansas

The Client:

Nestled less than 15 miles outside of Kansas City lies the University Park office complex in Leawood, Kansas. In this office complex, McCarthy Auto Group owns and operates out of one of the many buildings on premises. McCarthy Auto Group oversees 11 convenient Kansas City car dealerships, offering the best new and used cars in MO and KS. In addition to their ground level office, McCarthy also leases the upstairs office to RE/MAX State Line. RE/MAX State Line is the longest established RE/MAX office in the Greater Kansas City area and is the #1 RE/MAX office in the State of Kansas in terms of units and volume.

The Challenge:

Both offices in the building were in need of a single access control solution that would cover 3 doors total. McCarthy knew they wanted a solution that was more than your standard proximity card reader. The solution had to be modern, yet easy to operate. Additionally, the readers would need to operate outdoors, so users could authenticate prior to entering the building. Any reader being installed would need to operate in almost all weather conditions, including rain and direct sunlight. Finally, they were looking for a system that would allow for automatic door locking between specified hours.

The Solution:

McCarthy enlisted the installation expertise of J Webb Inc., an experienced fire alarm contractor, with whom they had worked with previously to install fire alarms at their various car dealerships. Jeff at J Webb worked closely with McCarthy to design and implement an access control system that met all of their needs. Since the readers had to be both modern and weatherproof, the ZKTeco Speedface model SF1008-WP was the perfect fit. These devices authenticate using facial recognition technology, making it touchless and modern, as well as able to function in rain and extreme sun. These devices were installed at all 3 building entrances and controlled by ZKBioSecurity software. Using this software, the readers were able to be jointly configured to allow for automatic door locking after business hours.

The Results:

Both McCarthy Auto Group and their tenant, RE/MAX, are happy and satisfied with the install of their SF1008-WP devices. Because of the success of this project, McCarthy is also planning on expanding their access control solutions to their dealership locations. Their current setup was constructed with this scalability in mind.
